What ConsultKit is, what it isn't, and where the responsibility sits.
ConsultKit calculates estimated energy requirements using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation with standard activity multipliers, and derives macronutrient targets from those figures. This is a widely used method, but it is an estimate and not a measurement.
Actual metabolic rate varies between individuals for reasons no equation accounts for. The figures are a defensible starting point to be adjusted against real-world results over the first few weeks — not a prescription.
ConsultKit does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and nothing it produces should be treated as such. It is a coaching tool.
Anyone who is pregnant or postpartum, managing a medical condition, taking medication that affects appetite, weight or metabolism, or who has a history of disordered eating should consult a physician or registered dietitian before acting on any figure it produces.
The tool applies conservative limits — it will not program a deficit beyond a set percentage of maintenance, and it will not recommend a rate of weight loss above roughly 1% of bodyweight per week. Those are safety floors, not a substitute for clinical judgement.
ConsultKit is licensed to fitness professionals. Trainers are responsible for using it within their own scope of practice and in accordance with the rules of their certifying body and the regulations of their jurisdiction.
Nutrition advice is regulated differently from place to place. Some regions restrict who may provide individualised dietary guidance. It is the trainer's responsibility to know what applies to them.
Lead Frog does not supervise, review or approve how any trainer uses the tool, and is not party to the relationship between a trainer and their client.
ConsultKit stores nothing on a server. Assessment results exist only in the browser on the device where they were entered, until the trainer prints them or emails them.
Where a trainer has connected an email service to receive completed assessments, that data travels to whatever address they configured, under that provider's terms. Trainers are the data controller for anything their clients enter, and are responsible for handling it in line with the privacy law that applies to them.
ConsultKit is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lead Frog accepts no liability for any loss, injury or damage arising from use of the tool or reliance on the figures it produces.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
